Editorials

I've decided to dedicate one piece a week to editorial illustration. Started today with an article by Charlie Brooker about the disintegration of Gordon Brown's career.

It's a funny piece and I loved some of the visual analogies he made - too good to pass up drawing!

Game illustrations

Wed Mar 18, 2009, 10:28 AM
This week Will faulds and I entered Poppenkast's 4 hour game challenge: Namely, make a video game (I believe youngsters just call them 'games' these days (^_^)!) in 4 hours - only stipulation being that it must be centred around the theme "money". Will came up with the awesome concept of a Victorian horse race, much like the old fairground games, very simply animated with some (hopefully) nice illustrations, gambling on your horse of choice!

The game, however, got increasingly random as we worked into the dead of the night! Giant toads started to replace horses, competitors were thwarted by typhoons and deadly squid attacks, craziness ensued!

It was great fun to work on and I'm really pleased with the outcome. We worked slightly beyond the 4 hour time limitation...but it was definitely worth it!

The awesome soundtrack was done in mere minutes by the very talented Chris Duffy, who also has some lovely illustrations on his blog.

If you have a spare minute (or 30 if you get really hooked!) check out the game in action here

  • Playing: Money in the horse's mouth!
  • Drinking: Cherry beer, decadence (^_^)

The Beginning

Wed Feb 18, 2009, 3:30 PM
My first ever journal entry...where to begin?

I've been travelling for 4 months (btw everyone must at some point in their lives visit Mongolia! It's the balls), so it's back to the (literal) drawing board.

Tomorrow is the beginning - I'll be working like a 4 headed machine on speed, drawings, drawings, drawings!

In the meantime come join me in the digital web of connectivity!
